Additional information

This fundamental study uses well-established asymptotic methods to reveal the importance of Joule heating in duct flows relevant to self-cooled tokamak blankets, where heat transfer is the key design parameter. It is unique because it introduces another dimension into applications where Joule heating is traditionally neglected. Further fusion research on MHD duct flows by Mao (Hangzhou Dianzi University) has stemmed from this investigation with publications in Fusion Engineering and Design and Chinese Journal of Computational Physics, as well as several fusion projects, one funded by National Science Foundation of China.
