Additional information

This research, funded by EPSRC (Case No: 08002550) and Aggregate Industries (Dr K Koutselas, kkoutselas@hotmail.com, Research Manager and Dr P Phillips, paul.phillips@aggregate.com, Technical Director), examines the development of a novel, sustainable and environmentally friendly material and method for repair and strengthening of concrete pavement structures, aiming to improve durability and safety of the UK rigid road network. Its innovation lies in the development of a novel concrete mix with optimal water content. Academically, there is no other method reported so far, offering high bond strength, roller “compactability” and paver “placeability” whilst simultaneously achieving high resistance to shear and flexural failure.
