Additional information

This is the first paper to review current practice regarding provision for people with disabilities in public (or communal) emergency shelter management. Lessons from the review, which draws on published and grey literature from around the world, are already informing a planned new project in Scotland to engage disabled people’s organizations and emergency planners in collective planning for emergencies, and a voluntary initiative to support parents of children with severe educational needs in London.
