Elasto-plastic large deflection response of pressure loaded circular plates stiffened by a single diametral stiffener
This invited Festschrift is the 19th output from an Anglo-Iranian collaboration begun in 1990 and is the first to treat this topic. It presents new non-axisymmetric, elasto-plastic, large deflection, discretely stiffened circular plate equations and their numerical solution. Its international significance is evident in Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, 42 (5), 403-416, 2011 and Composite Structures 93 (2), 973-982, 2011. New benchmark results quantify the effects stiffener geometry on transverse stiffness and plate/stiffener yielding. In addition, dimensionless results for deflections, stress couples and stress resultants as functions of transverse pressure are presented for the preliminary design of such plates.
