Additional information

This is a landmark paper in that it demonstrates that relationship between neural activation and blood flow can be described as a superposition of two types of opposite dynamic responses of blood vessels namely dilation and constriction. The neurovascular coupling model described in this paper plays a key role in the BBRSC grant “Understanding neural excitation and inhibition: Implications for the interpretation of extracellular field potentials and neurovascular coupling” (http://www.bbsrc.ac.uk/pa/grants/AwardDetails.aspx?FundingReference=BB/K010123/1; £615K) awarded in 2013.
