Results from a Royal Academy funded “Global Research Award” collaboration with McGill University, Montreal, 2008. It presents a fully DC offshore grid and offers a solution for DC fault isolation using DC/DC converters. In 2010, this DC concept lead to a Proof of Concept grant by Scottish Enterprise, 9-ENR004/PRP. The team built and tested a 30kW DC/DC pre-commercial prototype at Aberdeen University in 2010
