A Linearized Model for Lithium Ion Batteries and Maps for their Performance and Failure

Provides performance maps from both the linear and nonlinear models that enable prediction of comminution of storage particles in relation to the rate of charge and discharge of the battery, and indicate its dependence on material parameters. Particle comminution is a major limitation on lithium-ion battery performance, and enabling the avoidance of comminution has been achieved through this paper.
