Additional information

This paper presents an adaptive algorithm for optimising power flow within hybrid power systems. The algorithm is based on fuzzy logic and neural network techniques. The algorithm was validated using experimental data collected from an 87kW hybrid power system, operated by The Carbon Print Reduction Department at Manchester Metropolitan University. Promising results were obtained and about 7% of energy saving was achieved, compared to conventional PI controllers, using the proposed control strategy. A grant application on optimising energy of hybrid cars is being planned to the Horizon 2020 funding programme.
