Double-weighted statement

This occupied eight years of research including seven trips to the Biblioteca Nazionale and Biblioteca di Storia Patria in Naples. Rare materials at the State Archive of Naples were particularly hard to locate given partial cataloguing and the damage suffered in WWII. Additional sources were gathered at the British Library, the National Art Library and the Warburg Library (London), and The Cambridge Central Library. Alongside the lengthy construction of an extensive source base, the absence of previous studies meant the production of a new and extensive thesis of the power of Spanish viceroys in the court of early modern Naples.
