A coupled hp-finite element scheme for the solution of two-dimensional electrostrictive materials
This paper led to a keynote lecture in the V International Conference on Coupled Problems 2013 and is one of the topics of research of the prestigious Erasmus Mundus PhD in Computational Mechanics (http://www.cimne.com/emjd-seed/). The paper describes the computational coupling of electrostatics and elasticity for dielectric solids and, crucially, provides a closed form solution which can be used for benchmarking of further computer codes. The paper has attracted the industrial interest of SIEMENS, who have recently signed contracts committing to provide an EPSRC PhD case award and funding for two research assistant posts (contact: Ian Wilkinson: ian.wilkinson@siemens.com).
