Additional information

Predicting the powder mixing behaviour is a key step for effective process design and control in powder processing, a difficult experimental task currently based on empirical approaches. In a feasibility study sponsored by P&G, the capability of DEM modelling technique in predicting the powder mixing behaviour has been investigated. The paper elaborates the conditions and key input parameters required for a successful simulation. The suggested approach has been adopted by the industrial sponsor (contact: Dr Andrew Bayly)to minimise extensive trial and errors in equipment design and process scale-up and has been regarded as breakthrough towards future’s virtual labs development.
