An examination of business occupier relocation decision making : distinguishing small and large firm behaviour
Few behavioural studies have been conducted in the field of Real Estate, making this article particularly novel. Interviews with key personnel, responsible for locational decisions, generated unique data that was analysed using the constant comparative method; an approach that had not been attempted before. A two-dimensional analytical framework of business occupier decision making was developed, which generated original findings that distinguished the decision making of large firms and SMEs. Subsequent collaboration with Project North East, examined the performance of SMEs in the digital sector; the results which were presented at 'Sustaining Creative Economies' international conference at Newcastle University Business School, June 2012.
