Additional information

<06> Supported by the Spanish Science and Research Council, this work is of importance to the actual deployment of many cutting-edge security approaches defined so far in VANETs within the framework for Intelligent Transportation Systems provided by the Dedicated Short Range Communications technologies and the IEEE 802.11p/1609.x set of standards. In particular, this work focuses on discouraging the dissemination of false event warning messages in VANETs and limiting its undesirable consequences. This article has already inspired other academic research in several ways as different attacks can be performed throughout data dissemination in the vehicular context, i.e. vehicles sending false information.
