Additional information

Superplastic forming (SPF) is a process creating complex, light-weight high performance structures, with applications in aerospace. Simulation of the SPF process together with tooling heat phenomena has been made. An additional low temperature “polymer” physical model has been developed as an inexpensive method of prototyping and validation. The linkage of SPF with hot stamping and diffusion bonding (DB), are also being investigated. Development of SPF/DB is targeted at reduced cost and improved integrity for Titanium satellite NTO tank manufacture, £10M project involved collaboration with MT Aerospace / Astrium EADS; principal engineer: Renato Bellarosa email: renato.bellarosa@mt-sat.co.uk tel: +441438773079
