Additional information

Although the implied reader of this volume is the student rather than the researcher, The Palgrave Companion to Drama, Theatre and Performance embodies original research, is addressed to the University drama lecturer as well as to the students s/he teaches, and has a purpose beyond that of providing teaching materials. As stated in the Introduction, the book’s contents are structured in terms of an underlying thesis about the particular way in which the discipline of Drama/Theatre/Performance Studies has developed during the past half century in the UK. The Companion aims, not only to summarize current knowledge about key topics, but also to synthesize and analyze material from the wide range of fields which constitute the present-day discipline in order to provide a coherent picture of the discipline, and also a critical reflection on its current position and trajectory.
