Additional information

<09>This is the first detailed, experimental evaluation of two key techniques, text and dependency analysis, for identifying the source of software bugs based on tracking back from where the bug-fix was made. The study uses real software systems and real bug data. It was selected from the Working Conference in Reverse Engineering as a special issue journal publication (conference version not in REF2014). This paper’s significance is in guiding the future direction of this important area of software engineering research: identifying the strengths and weaknesses of each approach and providing guidance for the future course of bug source detection tools.
