Bioinspired Tunable Lens with Muscle-Like Electroactive Elastomers
The paper describes the development of the first electrically tuneable lens inspired to the human crystalline lens. It was featured on the journal inside cover. It stimulated a European project proposal (“EMBODI-EYED”), currently under evaluation. It led to invitations at the following international conferences: 12th International Conference on Frontiers of Polymers and Advanced Materials (Auckland 2013); 7th world congress on Biomimetics, Artificial Muscles and Nano-Bio (Jeju Island, 2013); 4th International Conference on Smart Materials and Nanotechnology in Engineering (Gold Coast, 2013); Living Machines 2012 (Barcelona, 2012); Keynote Lecture, Embodied Intelligence initiative ICT-FET programme, PhD Summer School (Rome, 2012).
