The paper identifies a novel approach to video processing algorithms through MPEG-4 objects, offering distinct and advanced capabilities on object tracking. This work in collaboration with QinetiQ has given an insight on further work building a Video Distribution Framework for Local Situation Awareness (LSA) for military vehicles that also contributed towards DefStan 00-82 and NATO STANAG 4697. It was funded by the UK MOD under the RT/COM/4/5008 umbrella grant and was also used as a basis a subsequent programme looking at wired and wireless LSA integration strategy for military vehicles.
