Additional information

The multiscale quasicontinuum method significantly decreases the computational time of atomistic lattice computations. In this publication a quasicontinuum method for structural lattice models is proposed, that is applicable to materials with numerous fibres. This work broadens the range of problems for which the method is applicable. Furthermore, the proposed method eliminates the integration error present in many competitor methods. This study was funded by the Dutch Technology Foundation STW (s.jongerius@stw.nl), Oce Group (Louis.Saes@oce.com), Royal Philips Electronics N.V.(Koen.Van.Os@philips.com), Smurfit Kappa Group and QTIS/e, and led to a proposed research project that includes three Research Assistants (ZemanJ@cml.fsv.cvut.cz).
