Additional information

This paper, based on EPSRC funded research and with support from Roke Manor Research Ltd., describes Power Amplifier (PA) modes that are specific to high frequency push-pull PAs. It has potential impact across the entire RF PA industry, in that it analyses and quantifies harmonic terminations in the presence of transmission line balun transformers. This allows the synthesis of harmonic impedance values that are maintained over a large frequency range. It is presently considered at Roke Manor for development into a full product range (Stephen Wales, stephen.wales@roke.co.uk) for broadband and efficient wireless transmitters, with key application in defence.
