Additional information

This paper presents first time-dependent analytical solutions to a theory DOI:10.1103/PhysRevE.73.016307 that aims to remedy 70-year-long-known shortcomings of two-phase flow modeling in porous media. The presented analytical solutions form a crucial milestone for understanding fluid-trapping phenomena, the basis of efficient numerical algorithms urn:nbn:de:bsz:93-opus-62643 and a separate PhD thesis urn:nbn:de:bsz:93-opus-75400. The paper is also part of Doster’s PhD thesis that has been awarded “with distinction” and was presented as one out of three presentations during the successful assessment of the NUPUS Grant (4.5M Euro, GRK 1398 of the German Research Society).
