Additional information

Passive and remote tracking of movement is of considerable interest for security, safety, human-machine interfacing. The technique described differs from others in being based on the passive sensing of changes in the ambient electric field. It has been patented as a “Target position, movement and tracking system” (GB1118970.1, priority date 2/11/11) leading to a joint Plessey Semiconductors/University of Sussex project to develop a 2D gesture recognition system. Sussex developed the prototype and Plessey a product for human-machine interfacing, demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show, Las Vegas, January 2013. Contact: Dr. K. Strickland, Technology Director, Plessey Semiconductors, Tel: 01793 518003, Email: Keith.Strickland@plesseysemi.com.
