Additional information

Study of the effect of functional group on CO2 sorption. Monoethanolamine is industry standard containing amine and alcohol functions. It is shown that if each of these groups are used alone, efficiency decreases. Amines are less effective than MEA, while alcohols are better when combined with ethers. Important structure-property correlations that have led to new sorbent design. This paper represents a study on the fundamental mechanisms of absorption allowing rational design of new materials. Led to funding through 4CU and SCOT (over €10M) and a number of Plenaries and Keynote lectures and appointment to International Scientific Board of ICCDU.
