Additional information

This paper is by Chawdary PhD student and Stylios, supervisor. The combination of substances during the electrospinning of polymers into nanofibres is of great importance because it provides functionality to fibres, for uses in novel applications, such as in biomedical. It shows how making fibres/yarns with having magnetic properties are useful as "intelligent dressings or implants”. It reveals how by combining a water based gel ( PVA) with a ferrous material (FeCl3), the gel can be dissolved/unloaded by pulsating/agitating the ferrous nanoparticles in the fibre, by an electromagnetic generator. Hence the carrying substance maybe delivered/unloaded by controlling the release process.
