<22> This paper presents the ultimate output of the EPSRC project "The Supervisor: Towards A Human Scheduling Algorithm" (GR/R92899/1). The ambitious hypothesis of the research, finally proven in this paper, is that a personnel scheduling algorithm will be superior if more aligned with human thinking, by incorporating schedulers tacit knowledge, whilst of course exploiting fast computation. The resulting evolutionary algorithm not only mimics, but vastly surpasses human performance by producing benchmark beating results across a range of problems.
