Significance of output:

<22>This was one of the first of its kind implementations of a web-service based architecture for processing both high-level logic-based descriptors of medical images and low-level features for automated classification and for parlaying services like natural language generation using ontologies. The system (off a e-Science funded project, MIAKT) was deployed across multiple sites and the medical ontologies were validated by medical experts. This paper distills the core principles behind developments published in preliminary reports, with a cumulative citation count of 100-plus. This work provided background evidence in seeking funding for 2 FP6 projects (HealthAgents and OpenKnowledge).
