Similarity solution of oblique impact of wedge-shaped water column on wedged coastal structures
The paper considers violent wave impact on coastal defences/offshore platforms/ships and employs an extension of the boundary element method in a joint project with the National University of Singapore supported by the Office of Naval Research (USA) focused on superfast boats (one to two hundred knots). The numerical model is being validated by collaborative experimental work carried out at Harbin Engineering University (HEU) as part of the joint research centre on Deep Water Engineering set up by UCL in 2010 jointly with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and HEU and supported by a £1.25 million grant by Lloyds Register Educational Trust.
