Additional information

Data throughput is key to the ever expanding need in modern telecommunications. This blue sky work in the field of enhancing data throughput is a result of international collaboration between Newcastle and Tsinghua Universities. It establishes a novel framework for bi-directional communications for both cellular and sensor relay-type networks and serves as a generalisation of physical layer network coding (PNC). The asymptotic studies in the paper show that such a framework exhibits substantial improvement over time sharing approaches. The work led to EPSRC (EP/I037423) and EU FP7 (298352) funded projects and on-going collaboration with Professor Vincent Poor at Princeton University.
