Additional information

This work is the first output from an EPSRC grant for instrumentation development (CJW=PI). The paper details the instrument and sample preparation development required to exploit the combination of AFM with confocal microscopy. This combination of instrumentation is now recognised as essential to overcome the limitations of AFM in characterisation of biological systems.
