Additional information

The algorithms developed in this paper and codes written by the authors are incorporated directly in Loop Performance Monitor (Plant Disturbance Analyser extension), a commercial product from ABB (a.horch@de.abb.com). An article in ABB Review gave an independent evaluation of the impact of this and other algorithms in a study with Eastman Chemical Company (Alexander Horch, John W. Cox, and Nunzio Bonavita, Peak Performance, ABB Review 2007(1), 24-29). Dr Jim Downs of Eastman Chemical Company (jjdowns@eastman.com) may be contacted for a statement of the impact of the method in solving several difficult industrial problems and its significance for the process industries.
