Additional information

Co-authored with Dr Eleanor Bowen, by the University of the Arts, London, 'The Hysteric as mad' build on the work I did at the 'Sensuous Knowledge' conference in Copenhagen. It follows the performative paper structure, adding a dimension to it through the structure of the exquisite corpse. Dr Bowen and I constructed the paper by responding to each other as in conversation, and basing our writing as a response to texts (me) and images (her). Dr Bowen calls her specific response to images a paratext format, which I explored an tested also in relation to texts. The paper was performed at the '5th Global Conference – Making Sense of Madness' event in Mansfield College, Oxford on 1 September 2012. The conference presented 29 very diverse and interdisciplinary papers on madness including, for example, a marxist critique of psychiatric services by sociologist Bruce Cohen, a reflection on the Asylums of British India through archival research on the National Library of Scotland Collection by Francine Millard, and a paper of Fernando Pessoa's multiple personalities by Katia Mitova, from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Following the reception of the paper, it will be included in an edited e-book of the conference and organisers have asked me to edit, together with Frances Davies (Northampton University), a hard copy book on new perspectives on madness, which will be published by ID Press in 2013. http://www.inter-disciplinary.net/probing-the-boundaries/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/gonzalesmadpaper.pdf
