Additional information

<28> Phillips, Ward and Beavis developed a unique virtual environment training system for radiotherapy education. This uses sophisticated 3D computer graphics and scientific visualization methods to provide a highly detailed training “flight simulator” for radiotherapy equipment and techniques. It simulates both the treatment machine and patient anatomy. The publication describes the experiences and benefits of using this system in practice at two institutions: Birmingham City University (UK) and Aarhus University Hospital (Denmark). In 2007/8 this was introduced throughout the NHS in England for radiographer training, where it has had a significant impact on the way that radiographers are trained.
