Additional information
This paper develops the work from two European projects (FR5 Roll Over) initiated in 2005 related to vehicle safety. It utilises the energy absorption properties of foams to enable technology transfer from acoustic systems to the application of mechanical absorption properties. The foams were developed in Germany as part of a European programme and complemented a FR6 programme on aluminium egg box structures and the EPSRC grant with Manchester University (2005) and the Composites certification centre. The Work also formed the core of the PhD thesis of Sk Nammi 2012. (Supervised by P Myler) IF 2.2
