Additional information

Spaced piles are a popular method of slope stabilisation (eg. to maintain rail and road infrastructure), and the maximum appropriate spacing is an important economic driver. This paper for the first time proposes an explicit link between the pile spacing and the improvement in stability for the slope. Ellis supervised the PhD work which led to the publication, and undertook the majority of the work in production of the paper.
