Predicting Plastic Deformation and Work Hardening during V-Band Formation

This paper described an elegant technique for determining the local plastic deformation generated during roll forming. Also, the simulation of a multistage rolling process of a relatively thick section described in the paper pushed the boundaries of this type of analysis at the time. The paper has subsequently been cited by international authors in both UK and overseas based journals. The research work in collaboration with Borg Warner is contributing to a greater understanding of key components in the control of emissions from internal combustion engines. This research continues with the increasing support Borg Warner a leading turbo charger manufacturer.
