Double-weighted statement

This monograph is based on the collection and analysis of a considerable body of material. It is based on primary archival sources that were collected by the author across a number of countries and cities: the United States (Chicago), the United Kindgom (London) and India (New Delhi and Chennai - formerly Madras). The sources from Chennai, India, are largely Tamil-language sources (that I translated myself for the monograph). These sources are held in some government collections but many were held in private, uncatalogued collections. Therefore both the process of analysis was time-consuming as well as the process of collection.
