Additional information

The originality focusses on the first analytical derivations and evaluations of closed-form expressions for outage probability at high signal-to-noise ratios (SNR) for a number of decode and forward (DF) network strategies. Specifically, new analytical expressions are derived for network coding (NC) methods which demonstrate the improvements offered with NC implementations. The paper has spawned a series of analytical research journal papers related to NC, undertaken in collaboration with researchers at Middlesex and Swansea Universities. These are published in IET Communications, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology and AEU Electronics and Communications and demonstrate further benefits of NC methods within relay networks.
