Additional information

This work was funded by EPSRC: Technology in Radiation Feasibility Studies (TeRaFS- EP/H024913/1) and addresses an image processing problem in biology. The work is a stream of GERI’s cell mechanics work and is significant as it demonstrates a new approach to segment subcellular structures from fluorescence microscopy images. The research led to the organisation of a special session “Analysis of Microscopy & Reconstructive Images” at the IEEE International Conference on Image of Processing (ICIP 2011). The work has been instrumental in developing a new EPSRC proposal to model the effects of ionising radiation on cell structure and mechanics.
