Evaluation and benchmarking of a pixel-shifting camera for superresolution lensless digital holography.
This paper describes the first ever use of a pixel-shifting super-resolution camera in digital holography. In digital holography the main limitation is sensor resolution. This paper conclusively shows for the first time that the use of super-resolution techniques considerably enhances the quality of the resulting digital holograms. The technique has direct applications in a number of precision 3D measurement technologies, including digital holographic microscopy and high-speed 3D surface measurement. Its industrial potential was attested to by the work being presented in an invited article in the widely circulated industrial trade publication Advanced Imaging.
