Additional information

This paper presents work from a PhD student project funded by Unilever, Colworth. It demonstrates a novel example of structural chirality, whereby a helical fibre spontaneously self-assembles in molecular dynamics simulations of achiral particles. The work achieved significant international recognition, with keynote / invited conference talks in India, Slovenia and the USA (Gordon Conference). It also prompted follow-up support, with Unilever fully funding a further studentship.
