Simulative Demokratie : Neue Politik nach der Postdemokratischen Wende
This is a major work of socio-political theory that brings together three theories – eco-political, sociological and democratic – which, although being closely related to each other, are rarely considered at once and systematically integrated into one single model. The volume concludes research that undertaken over more than a decade. It moves well beyond established eco-political debates and programmes for democratic reform in that it shifts the emphasis from the well-known narratives of ecological and democratic decline (and the related campaigns for their resuscitation) towards a descriptive-analytical exploration the distinctive shape of democracy and ecology in advanved modern consumer societies.
Simulative Democracy

This book develops a new theoretical framework and model for the description and analysis of democracy in contemporary consumer societies. It builds on the widespread debates about the crisis of democracy, which have been ongoing for some time, and on the more recent debates about the rise of post-democracy. The book breaks new ground not only in that it moves beyond the well established attempts to save and revive democracy, but also in that it reconceptualises the relationship between contemporary democracy and the politics of sustainability. In various respects it thus sets an entirely new research agenda.
