Additional information

Efficiency of numerical methods is most important in modelling simulation. Lots of effort has been made by scientists to develop advanced strategies. A novel meshfree computational method has been developed in this study for fracture engineering. This method has advantages over traditional finite element methods in providing high accuracy and convergence and enables the path of crack growth to be accurately predicted. The study has led to an industrial funded PhD studentship with Astrium Limited 2011 for applications to space structure such as satellite and aircraft, and several additional PhD studentships.
