Radio sources with ultrahigh polarization
Liang used interferometric image analysis expertise to study highly polarised astronomical radio sources to probe cosmic magnetic field. This work resulted in a new collaboration with Prof Gurvits (Head of Space Science, Joint Institute for VLBI in Europe http://www.jive.nl/), Dr Paragi of the same institute and other collaborators from University of Sydney (Prof Hunstead), National Observatory of China (Prof Han) for which 2 hours observing time on the European Very Long Baseline Interferometry Network (http://www.evlbi.org/) was awarded. Preliminary results from the work resulted in 3 nights of observing awarded on the Calar Alto 3.5m optical telescope (STFC travel grant ST/H003185/1)
