Hinchliffe McCutcheon contributed six pieces to this exhibition, the third in a annual series presented at Galleria Cristiana - Palatina. The curator, Mariola Demeglio, selected 34 established and emergent jewellery artists from across Europe. The exhibition concept was to question what jewellery can be, presenting objects to be worn, in the manner of jewellery, but exploring the term by the variety of materials, shapes, weights and forms the exhibitors used. All the work was selected because of its strongly radical identity.

Hinchliffe McCutcheon begins from the position that there are no limits to the materials that can be used in jewellery, and here she exercises a selection that allows her to explore the relatioship between metal, wood and textile. Each material has its purpose - to bring tactile contrast, visual impact and function to the piece. Her experience of working with materials influences the forms and surfaces as an almost intuitive response. Unlike the traditional expectation of jewellery, the ideas within the pieces are more important than the value of the materials used.
