This work was funded by 'Smart Sensor Networks' Project at CSIRO Australia (AUD$2.75m, 2009 - 2011). The aim of this project is to develop Australia's largest high resolution plant phenomics integrated intelligent wireless sensor network for monitoring microclimate and plant behavior in the field. CSIRO's platform includes over 185 solar powered nodes, 640 sensors attached to them, and 10 multimedia nodes for environmental monitoring and biodiversity restoration. This work has led to commercialisation opportunities with Zedelef, a spinoff company for distributed sensing.
