Additional information

As the lead editor of this anthology, Howell was responsible for devising its contents, selecting contributors, overseeing the editorial process and contributing two chapters: ‘Preludes & Codas’ and ‘Dualities and Dialogues: Saariaho’s Concertos’. Contributors comprise four UK scholars balanced by four post-doctoral researchers from Finland to form an international symposium on this major contemporary figure: the first in English. The four UK authors all have significant connections with the York Music Department. The broadcaster, music critic (and York graduate), Tom Service, has provided an introductory, in-depth interview with Saariaho.
