Three-Component Multi-phase Velocimetry measurements on a GDI spray using optically efficient fluorescent tracers
Invited for a special issue of Experiments in Fluids from the best papers at the 15th International Symposium on Applications of Laser Techniques to Fluid Mechanics, Lisbon, 2010. The paper presents the first simultaneous two-phase velocimetry measurements from high pressure petrol sprays introducing an optical absorber to overcome multiple scattering and using a novel colour recording approach. The work was funded through a multi-disciplinary project, Engineering/Chemistry (EPSRC GR/S69108). The outcomes contributed to the award of an industrial contract from Parker Hannifin with funding from Yorkshire Forward through the Grant for R&D scheme, £345k to Leeds (pcore@parker.com).
