Additional information

This paper develops a new technique to extract detailed contact patch information from a virtual tyre and creates new thinking on different tyre parameters and aspects, such as the distributed local rolling radius. The novel results from this study contributed directly to the creation of a simplified tyre model, as outlined in the second part of this two-part paper. Results from this paper were presented and discussed at the 2011 IAVSD conference.
