Additional information

This paper describes an acoustic sound testing apparatus, which was shown to be an effective bench-top method for the evaluation of polymer-based compounds intended for applications requiring the knowledge of acoustic properties. It was proposed that the method could be used in the automotive, aerospace and construction industries to assess materials before the expensive testing of prototype components was carried out. The method has now been adopted in the TSB LANDS project currently running in the Wolfson Centre.
