Additional information

This paper announces the discovery of a new multifunctional nanoparticle by a new non-equilibrium synthesis route. Future impact is expected in advanced materials manufacturing, energy scavenging, and healthcare. Patent for the process and product have been filed (GB 1222781.5). The results stem from a PhD studentship funded by the South East Physics Network (value £60k) with co-supervision from Kent. The paper led to ‘Proof of Concept’ funding application to QMUL Innovations for an integrated energy generation/storage device and an ‘Institute of Life Science’ studentship in collaboration with QMUL’s School of Medicine and Dentistry for magnetic hyperthermia cancer therapy.
